Solaris 10 NSCD

Name Service Cache Daemon (nscd)

The nscd ddaemon is a process that provides a cache for the most common
name server requests. The nscd daemon starts during multiuser boot.

/etc/nscd.conf controls the behavior of the nscd.

nscd provides caching for :
- passwd
- group
- hosts
- ipnodes
- exec_attr
- prof_attr
- user_attr
